How We Teach
Anubhuti Signature Learning Approach™
We use only the government-prescribed subjects and textbooks. What differs is the method. Instead of teaching moral education and computers from a book, we teach them by doing. Three approaches, developed in these classrooms, carry the whole curriculum.
These are not special periods once a week — they are how an ordinary school day runs. Book a school visit and sit through one.
About Us
Who We Are
A seed that sprouts in soft soil grows into a tree, and nobody is surprised. When a seed pushes its way up beside a rock, the credit belongs to the hands that nurtured it. Anubhuti is that second kind of seed — sown beside a rock in Bramhapuri, a small town in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, and tended with patience and perseverance ever since.
From Delhi to Bramhapuri
In 2005 we left Delhi and settled in Bramhapuri, determined to work in education. We took on a hard brief: to open an English medium school without any strong financial backing, built around an innovative teaching-learning method, for children of economically weaker families who could never afford the exorbitant fees of the existing English medium schools.
We formed a non-governmental organisation, the Vasu Foundation, and opened a school under its banner in 2006 — five students, one 200 sq ft tin shed, pictured here. Bramhapuri is a town of roughly 36,000 people, far from the places where such schools are expected to survive. This one has.

The Promises We Have Kept
The school has run with strict adherence to the values it began with — modest tuition fees, no refundable deposit demanded from parents, and a simple, decent building put up without any ostentation. The learning environment is built to give students trust and confidence, and to keep a close, continuing dialogue with their parents. Through every difficulty, the Anubhuti family has held on to that character.
How We Teach
Everyone at Anubhuti believes in a comprehensive, innovative method of education grounded in practical work experience. Participatory learning is the backbone of everything that happens here: children make the shapes they are studying, stitch, visit workshops, weigh and measure and build. Understanding is the goal; marks follow from it.
What We Refuse to Accept
We want to change a settled but false notion — that an excellent school is only the one with a modern, attractive building, luxurious libraries and laboratories, expensive uniforms, exorbitant fees and a plethora of subjects. A school is its teaching. Everything else is decoration.
The Work Is Not Finished
We are still in need of financial support to complete our school building, to expand into new classes, and for many similar purposes. We sowed a seed beside a rock. It has grown into a young sapling. To make sure it grows properly, we want the support of innumerable hands.

What does activity-based learning look like at Anubhuti Prashala?
Anubhuti Prashala runs activity-based learning in every class, not just in a weekly period. Children build the geometry they study, run their own elections, measure and record in science, and learn from craftspeople in the town. The school has taught this way since 2006 and now reaches 1,200+ students from Bramhapuri and 30+ surrounding villages.
What are CMLL, PBOM and ELC?
They are the three teaching methods developed at Anubhuti Prashala over twenty years. CMLL (Creative Method of Language Learning) runs language through daily reading, weekly dictations, story-writing, drama and recitation. PBOM (Practice-Based Operations in Mathematics) runs maths through daily tables, weekly tests, 3D shape making and real conversions in the maths lab. ELC (Experiential Learning of Concepts) teaches concepts through history trips, films, hand-made seals and field visits. The syllabus and textbooks remain the government-prescribed ones — only the method differs.
Is Anubhuti Prashala an English medium school?
Yes. It was started in 2006 as an English medium school in Bramhapuri specifically so that children of economically weaker families could get English medium education without the fees charged elsewhere in the town.
